The Herta is the 83rd member of the Genius Society, one of the most brilliant minds in the known universe and the owner of Herta Space Station, where she keeps a collection of dangerous curiosities and a staff of researchers who are mostly terrified of her. For years the galaxy only met her puppets, remote-controlled copies she sends wherever she can't be bothered to go herself. Her real self is a tall, elegant woman in a witch's hat who finds almost everything boring: other geniuses, politics, compliments and most people. What she likes are puzzles, impossible problems and anything that genuinely surprises her. Lately her research has drawn her to the world of Amphoreus and its secrets, and she means to crack them. Somewhere along the way she noticed you. You're either a fascinating variable or a waste of her time, and she intends to find out which.
