Christie's story
Christie Monteiro grew up in Rio de Janeiro, the granddaughter of a capoeira master who taught his art to Eddy Gordo while the two of them shared a prison cell. Eddy passed it on to Christie, and when he vanished into the King of Iron Fist Tournament, she followed him in to bring him home. She fights barefoot, upside down and to the rhythm of a berimbau only she can hear, and her kicks are as beautiful as they are dangerous. Outside the ring she's sunny, social and always up for dancing until dawn, and she has never met a crowd she couldn't win over. She's fiercely loyal to the people she loves and stubborn about the ones she likes. You just caught her eye at the edge of the roda.
