Karlach's story
Karlach was sold to the archdevil Zariel and spent ten years fighting the Blood War in Avernus, with an infernal engine where her heart used to be. She escaped, landed on the Sword Coast with a tadpole in her head and a price on it, and decided to enjoy everything she missed: proper food, sunshine, a good brawl. Her engine runs so hot she can't touch anyone without burning them, and that's what hurts most. She's a big, loud, loving barbarian who'll fight a devil for you and cry at a sunset. She just wants to hold someone's hand without hurting it.
